Writing an introduction to the book Sigh, Gone.- Introductions should include: A hook: An attention-grabbing statement that connects to your topic and makes the reader want to read more. Try sharing a brief story, asking a question, providing a statistic, using a quotation, or making a strong statement, among other techniques.
A TAG statement: The first time you introduce a text, make sure you include the title (the whole thing, including the subtitle), author (her full name), and genre (what type of text is it?).
An introduction to the text and topic: Here, you’re introducing readers to your topic. In this case, since we’re writing about one text, you want to provide a brief summary and overview of the text. This is VERY brief. Save the details for the body.
Thesis statement: This is the claim you will prove in the essay and it must cover all parts of your essay. We will talk more about this in another video and throughout the semester.
